Community Partnership

Our Community Partner: The Makapo Aquatics Project CoOP was developed in close collaboration with The Makapo Aquatics Project, a nonprofit dedicated to creating inclusive paddling opportunities for people with disabilities. Founded on the belief that everyone should experience the power of outrigger paddling, Makapo has expanded beyond its origins to support paddlers of all ages and abilities through community-centered programs.
Makapo’s mission to champion active, inclusive lifestyles through paddling aligns perfectly with CoOP’s goal to bring the sport to people who may face physical or sensory barriers. From introductory Ohana Days to the competitive Para Outrigger Team and fun family programs like Parent & Me Paddling, Makapo’s diverse programs have made paddling accessible for countless individuals.
With their expertise and dedication, Makapo has been an invaluable partner in the development of CoOP, helping us ensure that paddlers of all abilities have the chance to connect, compete, and thrive on the water.
